If you are planning a family holiday in Somerset you will probably want to know what there is to do and see. The county offers a diverse range of attractions and places to visit. If you are after sandy beaches then you should visit the Berrow flats that overlook Bridgewater.

Walkers will enjoy the breathtaking walks along the cliff tops of Sandy Glade, while resorts close by, Weston super mare and Burnham on sea offer great entertainment for the whole family.

Weston super mare is a popular tourist destination that has many attractions including its long sandy beach. Younger readers will probably know the resort as the venue for channel four’s T4 on the beach party, but unfortunately this only happens once a year. As well as the beach, there are many other attractions that include a helicopter museum, the SeaQuarium aquarium, putting greens and a miniature railway.

The city of Bath is in Somerset makes a great educational day out as it is famous for its roman baths, but is also the home of King Arthur’s burial place. Over 3.8 million tourists visit the city on average per year. The city is known for its heritage and culture as there are many interesting attractions to visit. As well as the baths, you can look around bath abbey, the modern baths and many Georgian buildings. One of the best ways to see the city is on an open top bus ride that will take you to all the important spots.

The rest of Somerset provides things for everyone to enjoy on their holiday. Nature lovers will love visiting the Brean Down Bird Garden, Alstone Wildlife Park, Ferne Animal Sanctuary and the RSPB West Sedgemoor.

One of the most famous set of attractions in Somerset are Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge. Cheddar Gorge is the largest Gorge in the UK and features a set of caves where the oldest human skeleton was found and is believed to be 9,000 years old.
