The Run to the Sun festival is one of the biggest events in Cornwall’s summer calendar having grown year on year since the very first event in 1987. For 2009 organisers are planning their biggest festival yet with a-list performers and some great new features to appeal to Run for the Sun virgins and veterans alike.
One of this years headline acts is Pendulum who are set to DJ on the main stage on Friday night. The band really shot to fame with the mainstream audience last year after enjoying a top 10 single and album, a sold out headline tour and then supporting Linkin Park during one of their biggest and best gigs ever. Other a-list DJs include Judge Jules, Dave Pearce and Headkandi. Joining the DJs will be a number of live bands and top comedians.
2009s festival will see a new VW only camping area which reconnects the festival with its roots as a celebration of the VW van. Also new for 2009 is the Shakin Shake Bar complete with huge outside area which will be great for partying, there are also plans to do away with the current car park to create more room for fun events and traders.
If you want to head to the Run for the Sun but aren’t keen on camping you can always combine it with a great Newquay break. If you are planning on doing this though its always a good idea to book any Newquay hotel you are thinking of staying in nice and early as the Run for the Sun festival weekend is one of the busiest times of the year for Newquay.

Relive your Childhood
Many of us remember when we were younger spending our summer holidays in a tent, whether it was on holiday or even in your own back garden, by going on a camping weekend again as an adult you can relive those fond childhood memories all over again. For a few days out of your busy year why not feel like a child again and feel the excitement of sleeping under the stars.
Value for money
Camping is a much cheaper alternative then the traditional hotel based holidays. Buying a tent plus a range of accessories and essentials for a camping trip will either cost the same or even a little less than the average hotel. While this might not seem so cost affective on your first trip remember that next time you will not need to buy all your equipment again so you could well end up saving a lot of money in the long term.
Freedom
A camping holiday will provide much more freedom than a normal holiday. On a camping holiday you don’t have the rules and regulations that hotels and guest houses impose, you can get up when you want, eat when you want, eat what you want, wear what you want and stay up as late as you wish.
Pet Friendly
Many of the countries camping sites allow pets on site, so if you cant bear to be parted from the family pet or simply can’t afford the kennel fees you can bring them along with you.
Family Friendly
If your children love the great outdoors then camping might be the greatest option for them as there is nothing like camping for getting close to nature. Camping is also great for taking part in family activities suck as walking, visiting nearby attractions, numerous camping activities and eating and cooking together as a family.

If you are heading to the Torbay/Brixham area this summer to stay in one of the many great Devon caravan parks then you will need a heads up on some of the great attractions that are around the area. In this blog post we are going to talk about two of the biggest attractions, Paignton Zoo and Quay West.
Paignton Zoo
Considered one of the best Zoos in Britain, Paignton zoo covers around 80 acres of land and is home to some amazing and rare animals. Visitors will be able to see Elephants, Lions, Tigers, Rhinos and Crocodiles that were added in 2008.
With plenty of informative and interactive features that will help you learn about the animals and their natural habitat you are sure to leave the zoo with a better understanding of our planets wildlife.
At certain times in the day you can catch displays and shows where the experts will talk to you about the animals and answer questions you may have.
When feeling peckish on your visit, you will find plenty of places to eat and fuel up for the rest of the day. As well as a main indoor restaurant there are plenty of outdoor snacks huts that you will be able to get some snacks.
As well as the animals on display there is play areas for children and a miniature train that will take you on a scenic trip around the grounds.
Having recently visited Paignton Zoo I can safely say it is a great day out for young and old alike.
Quay West
Quay West Water Park is another great attraction to visit when staying in a Bixham/Torbay Devon Holiday Park. This brilliant family attraction is set in the lovely area of Goodrington Beach that is a joy to explore by itself.
The waterpark is a great place to spend a hot day this summer at. As well as heated pools, there are rides and slides that include the Wild Kamikaze, Devils drop and the Screamer. Raging Rapids and Surf Lagoon are tube rides that are great fun.
Once you have worked up an appetite, you can get some food from one the many food outlets that include Boarders, Lumsdens fish and chip shop, The BBQ and the ice cream parlour for a cooling treat later in the day.
The park will be more suited for young families, but Quay West is a great place to spend a day this summer.

Harry Potter and his wizerding friends are all heading down to the Pembrokeshire coast to film some important scenes for the new Harry Potter movie, The Deathly Hallows. On the stunning Pembrokeshire beach of Freshwater West the film crew has brought to life Shell Cottage, the home of Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour. Harry, Ron and Hermione visit the cottage during their epic quest to defeat Lord Voldemort.
Filming for the scenes, including some of the most poignant in the whole book, took place between 11th and 15th May. Luckily for film fans much of the beach remained open allowing members of the public a chance to get a close up look at what is expected to be one of the most successful films of all time.
Harry is not the only hero heading to this beautiful part of Britain; Legendary Robin Hood is also heading to the very same beach in June to film a new Hollywood blockbuster. The new film Robin Hood stars Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett and is directed by Ridley Scott. Ridley Scott is using the beautiful location to film an epic battle scene and will need 600 extras to play soldiers.
Such Hollywood interest in Pembrokeshire could well have a massive knock on affect for tourism in the area, at least that’s what tourism chiefs are hoping. It is expected that once the Pembrokeshire coast makes its appearance on the big screen (Harry Potter is due to be released in 2010 & 2011, Robin Hood is due for release in 2010) film fans will flock to the area. Pembrokeshire is already is a popular destination with many tourists taking a short break in Wales thanks to its stunning coastline, but such massive exposure for the region will hopefully see many more choosing to take their next holiday in Pembrokeshire Cottages and hotels in the years to come.

When staying in Northumberland Accommodation you will be looking for places to visit and activities to do. One place of interest that you may want to visit is the Holy Island. Also known by its Celtic name of Lindisfarne, the island can be accessed by a 3 mile long causeway that can be crossed twice a day at low tide.
One of the important and popular features of the island is Holy Island castle that was originally formed as a defence for the island in Tudor times. The castle has since been turned into a home and has many of the original elements in place to see today.
Just north of the castle is a wonderful garden that is open to the public and maintained by the National Trust.
The island has proved popular with many tourists over the years, but it can get overcrowded sometimes as space is limited. One way to avoid the crowds is to stay on the islands once the tide cuts off access as this is when most visitors will head back to the mainland.
As well as access along the causeway, visitors can also access and leave the island along the sands which is a crossing called the Pilgrims’ way, this again is subject to weather conditions and the tide.
When visiting the island look out for two of their delicacies, one being crab sandwiches that can be found in the shops and cafes and the second is the island’s mead. Lindisfarne is known for its mead and originates from mediaeval times when monks lived on the island. The monks have now left but the mead is still produced at St Aidan’s Winery and is sold throughout the UK and the world.
The Island of Lindisfarne was named one of the wonders of the North in a programme called Seven Natural Wonders that was shown on TV.
So next time you visit the region and stay in a Northumberland Coastal Cottage, why not pay Lindisfarne a visit and take in this hidden treasure.
