OceanfestIf you are staying in one of the Many Holiday parks around Woolacombe and Croyde this coming weekend then you may want to pay a visit to Croyde to take part in the Goldcoast Oceanfest. Last Year’ fest saw Grammy Award winner Jason Mraz play his acoustic laid back tunes to a packed crowd and this year’s headliners are the Magic Numbers. Over 20 bands will be playing to the excited crowds over 3 days including Goldhawks, Little Fish, The Universe Inspectors and Joe Brooks.

As the title suggests, the Oceanfest is not just about music. A lot of the events and competitions are held in the sea. Surf aquathon, paddle races, life saving and men’s and ladies’ surfing competitions will all be happening in the water while beach football and volleyball will be held on the nearby sand.

Unlike summer festivals like Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, the Oceanfest is much more family orientated with events and activities that all ages can watch and enjoy.

As well as the professional athletes competing on the waves and the musicians performing in the Oceanside arena, there is a trade village and adrenalin zone. The trade village has stalls where attendees can purchase food and drinks to keep them going and the adrenalin zone has demos, exhibitions and booths where you can buy various goods. Who knows, if you are inspired by the many young locals who are competing in the events, you might fancy your chances by competing in future competitions at the fest.

The Goldcoast Oceanfest has been running since 1999 and proved a real hit every year with everyone who attends. The Surf and Music festival continues to grow and get bigger every year, with the organisers constantly trying to up their game and draw bigger acts and organise more events.

So if you are on a Family Holiday in Devon between the 18th and 20th of June then you should head to the Goldcoast Oceanfest. Tickets have been on sale for a while through the box office, but there will be tickets available on the gates for cash sales.
