Home » Advice » Time to taste Derbyshire

A new scheme has been introduced within Derbyshire and the peak district, the scheme is a reward based system for restaurants and other food related establishments. With such a thriving tourism trade this will be a great help to many businesses that rely on holiday trade such as Peak District Cottage owners and restaurateurs.

The ‘Taste Derbyshire’ mark of quality award will be given out following a visit from an independent mystery shopper.

Businesses can receive one of these awards judged on their use of local suppliers, menu style, food presentation, customer service and quality of facilities. This award will be available to bars, cafés, pubs, bistros, restaurants and takeaways throughout the county and is coordinated by the areas official tourism board ‘Visit Peak District and Derbyshire’.

The process is very simple. An assessor will make an unannounced visit to the premises and following the inspection of the food and facilities they will speak to the owners and let them know the mark they will be receiving. This would then be followed up with a letter outlining any suggested changes that should be applied or improved upon.

All of the businesses that receive over 80% of the required marks will be given a special award for the highest quality. Should an establishment receive between 60-70% they will also get an extra award for quality assurance.

This will certainly give visitors staying in Holiday Cottages Peak District and even local residents a great boost to their knowledge by ensuring they can choose the best possible option when deciding on somewhere to dine out in Derbyshire and the Peak District.
