Brixham Battery is one of the most historic landmarks along the whole of the South Devon coast. The 14 acre gardens were first used as a battery back in 1586 during the war between England and Spain. The battery has also been used during many of Britain’s most famous wars including the American War of Independence in the 1780s, the Napoleonic wars in the 19th century and during the two World Wars.

The Battery is a great day out for anyone on their Devon Holidays and today the beautiful gardens offer some of the best views in Brixham as well as giving you a chance to learn more about the fascinating history of the Brixham Battery and the role it has played in defending the country.
