Are you a songwriter, singer or performer that lives in or near the city of Bath? If your answer is yes then now is the time to use your skills to come up with a piece of music that sums up the city of Baths spirit. The competition taking place this year is called ‘The Song for Bath’ and is being run in collaboration with numerous organisations such as bath council and future Plus Bath.

The people behind the idea are hoping that it will encourage individuals to write a piece of music that is not only unique but exciting and really depicts the wonders of the city.

The prize for the best song will scoop a cash prize of £1000 and runners up will receive awards of £500 and £250. There is also a special reward for the person that the judges decide shows the most promise. One lucky person will be able to have a one to one musical workshop with a music tutor from Bath University and will also get the chance to record their song professionally with the use of a producer and session musicians.

A variety of judges will be deciding upon the winner including international Jazz singer Clare Teal, Joe Bennett who heads the School of music and performing arts departments at Bath Spa University and Jason Thornton the musical director of the Bath Royal Philharmonic amongst others. As you can see they represent a wide genre of musical styles and will have a very tough decision to make.

So what are you waiting for? Its time to get writing that perfect song about anything related to the city, maybe even about the great Hotels Bath and Accommodation in Bath.
