If you are staying in a cottages in Devon over the Royal Wedding bank holiday then you are in for a tasty treat. The Exeter Festival of South West Food and Drink 2011 will be taking place from 29th April until 1st May.

Exeter’s Northernhay Gardens and Castle Courtyard will again be the setting for the largest food and drink festival in the South West. This popular festival highlights all the amazing produce grown and produced in the South West region. At the festival you will get the chance to meet the growers themselves, help the local economy and buy some fantastic food to eat at the event or to take home afterwards.

In the marquees in the Northernhay Gardens attendees will have the chance to taste some of the wonderful local produce including cheeses, meat, wines, ales and a whole variety of more unusual faire.

Some of the finest chefs will be on hand to offer insightful cookery demonstrations for adults while special kids shows will show them the fun to be had cooking and growing their own food.

If enjoying the festival during the day was not enough why not return at night for a unique evening out. From 6pm on Friday and Saturday night you can attend the Festival After Dark which offers a delightful combination of live music and more of that scrumptious food and drink.

With the festival starting on the 29th April you may be worried about missing the Royal Wedding; however it could be the perfect place to watch the historic events unfold. There will be a huge 25 square metre screen broadcasting the event live and of course you will be surrounded by food and drink fit for a king. There will be plenty of other fun Royal themed events as well to create a truly magical atmosphere.
