Cycling around Derbyshire

Cycling has long been a national institution and mode of transport, but in recent years more and more of us are cycling for fun, fitness and leisure. With the growing trend for mountain bikes as a cycling option, more of us are heading to less populated rural locations to spend our recreation time on two wheels.

What better place to spend time in wide open spaces on two wheels than in the “Peak District” in Derbyshire, as it is fast becoming one of the most popular places to ride in the English countryside. This is probably due to the ease of accessibility to many visitors and the fact that there is such a diversity of places to ride within the Peak District for all abilities and age groups.

As well as the usual A and B roads to cycle along, there are the more desirable networks of child friendly cycle paths and cycle trails with and made up of converted disused old railway lines, which have been made cycle friendly and pass through many rural villages and places of interest along the way. For the more adventurous mountain bikers who want some off road action why not hit the many single track trails which are well listed as popular off road cycling routes.

For most visitors who are looking for an activity holiday like cycling or a mini-break on two wheels, there is a large variety of local accommodation on offer while cycling in the Derbyshire countryside. Why not stay at a Peak District Cottages for a special countryside location and Holiday Cottages Derbyshire for peaceful and beautiful surroundings.
