The Royal Bath and West Show

The biggest annual event of the year in the Bath events calendar is the “Royal Bath and West Show’ on the1st -4th June. It features all the best features from local farming and agriculture, as well as local produce, rural crafts, art exhibitions, a miniature railway, a horse show and falconry displays as well as many others. Displays and side-shows include bee keeping, sheep shearing, orchards & cider exhibition, the National Cheese Awards, floral arts and all reflect on Bath and its surrounding areas.

Historically the show was originally conceived back in the year 1777, when a group of gentleman met within the City of Bath and formed the “Society for the encouragement of Agriculture, Arts, Manufactures and Commerce”, from around the Counties of Somerset, Wiltshire, Gloucester, and Dorset, and within the City and County of Bristol at that time. But it wasn’t until 1965 when the present permanent showground location close to Frome, just south of Bath was acquired and the show has been sited and staged there annually ever since.

It offers a great day out for all the family as there is something for everyone and for people of all ages and backgrounds. For most visitors who are looking for a rural experience on holiday a country show like this or a south west mini-break, there is a large variety of local accommodation on offer while staying in the city of Bath.
