Visit the Edinburgh Castle when staying in hotels in EdinburghTwo attractions in Edinburgh have received a boost after figures released this week showed they were amongst the top visitor sites in Britain.

According to The Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (ALVA), the newly refurbished National Museum of Scotland was the most visited attraction outside of London, whilst the Edinburgh Castle maintained its position as Scotland’s number one paid-for visitor attraction.

Made up of some of the UK’s leading heritage attractions who release their figures annually, ALVA reported a significant rise in the increases of visitors to the National Museum of Scotland, an incredible total of 141% rise for the year.

Edinburgh Castle also saw an impressive 1,302,826 visitors in 2011, an 8% increase on the previous year.
