Leonardo Da Vinci work on display at Paris museumA Leonardo Da Vinci masterpiece has been unveiled at the Louvre museum in Paris, as part of a display exploring the oil painting’s historic importance in artistic terms.

Named ‘The Virgin and Child with Saint Anne’, it depicts St Anne, her daughter the Virgin Mary and an infant Jesus, who is seen grappling with a sacrificial lamb, symbolizing his passion.

The unveiling of the painting comes after a row in the art world over cleaning methods used on the work, which was alleged to have been damaged by excessive restoration techniques.

The exhibition includes bringing together 130 drawings, preparatory studies, and earlier versions of his work by his workshop, forming part of the display with intent to discover the inspiration behind this extraordinary piece of work.
