Edinburgh airport saw off tough competition from Cologne, Birmingham, Luton, Nice, Marseille and Milan to secure the ‘Best European airport: 5m – 10m passengers’ title at the eighth Annual Airports Council International awards in Madrid, winning the accolade for a second year in a row.

It is a massive boost to the airport as the holiday season gets in to full swing, with thousands of travellers from Britain and abroad beginning their cultural expedition to one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.
