Programme for book festival in Edinburgh confirmedThe programme for this year’s International Book Festival in Edinburgh has been confirmed by organisers, with the likes of former Prime Minister Gordon Brown, and Man Booker prize winner Ian McEwan among the big names set to make an appearance.

Taking place between 11 – 27 August, the festival will be held in the famed Charlotte Square Gardens and will host 800 writers and 750 events, a dream combination for lovers of the written word.

The National Library of Scotland will be the stage for Mr Brown and journalist John McCarthy to deliver lectures, whilst Will Self, Zadie Smith, Howard Jacobsen and Pat Barker are others who will be involved with proceedings.

Organisers are hoping the festival will give audiences the opportunity to engage and interact with leading figures in literature about important issues and current affairs.

Just one of many cultural events and activities taking place in the Scottish capital this summer, it could be a great excuse to combine an enlightening experience with a stay in one of the fine Edinburgh hotels.
