Now, a series of promising recent figures has found that the popularity of the Catalonian capital is still on the rise.

Collated and prepared at MODUL University in Vienna by European Cities Marketing, the study found that visitor levels during 2011 have been particularly fruitful, with the city experiencing year-on-year growth rates of over 10%, clearly demonstrating the cultural hotspot’s increased popularity. With many of the cities across Europe experiencing promising figures during the survey, this further cements the point that city breaks continue to be a major driving force for tourism in the continent.
