Snowdonia gets its name from ‘Mount Snowdon’, the imposing mountain overlooking the local landscape and is the most popular mountain in the UK to be visited by tourists. The surrounding area has a wide scope of terrain and landscape to discover, which makes an ideal choice for those looking at the ideal rural region which offers an array of different outdoor pastimes and activities throughout the year.

A trip to the Snowdonia National Park would simply not be complete without an ascent to the summit of Mount Snowdon, even though the mountains’ summit is accessible by foot, for many people and by far the easiest option to travel to the summit is by the magnificent Snowdon Mountain Railway. The railway starts its journey from Llanberis Station and then takes you on a slow scenic journey following a beautiful route around the mountain to the final stop at the summit. Here visitors can admire the magnificent scenery, plus relax and enjoy a range of refreshments at the summits’ all-new visitor centre.

The west side region of Snowdonia overlooks and meets the Irish Sea, offering wonderfully long sandy beaches and a rugged stretch of coastline with craggy coves. This coastline has areas and beaches which are perfect for surfing, sea kayaking, wind surfing, sand yachting and many more fun beach leisure activities.

Snowdonia and its wonderful landscape offers plenty of reasons to pay this special area a visit, whether it’s for a longer holiday or simply weekend break. For accommodation you can easily choose from one of the local Snowdonia cottages or opt for one of the typical traditional North Wales self catering cottages which are found throughout the local countryside.
