Here are a few events taking place during August, which are well worth adding to your holiday itinerary. One of the highlights in the region is the annual Bakewell Show. It is one of the oldest agricultural shows in the country and this year it is celebrating its 182nd show year.

The Bakewell Show is being held on August 1 – 2, at the showground located on the outskirts of the town. This rural event offers a wide range of things to do and see over a two day period and features a host of livestock show classes, as well as horticultural exhibitions and displays. There will also be a variety of country arts, crafts exhibitions and a horse show.

Following this show is another rural event not to miss, as August 4 – 5 sees the Peak District’s largest dedicated steam vehicle show taking place in the shape of the annual Cromford Steam Rally. This steam rally takes place in the Derbyshire village of Cromford and offers a wide range of historical steam engines and stationary engines.

The rally will also feature collections of model and miniature steam engines, military trucks, tractors, fair organs, motorcycles, classic cars, coaches and buses. In addition, there will also be a wide selection of exhibitions and displays, with a variety of activities and amusements for kids.
