Gaiety Theatre DublinThe line-up for this year’s highly anticipated Dublin Theatre Festival has been unveiled, with the Irish capital set to be the centre of attention.

Celebrating its 55th anniversary in 2012, the festival will open on 27 September and runs until 14 October. It will be the first to be directed by Willie White.

It will showcase the very best new work from leading and emerging Irish theatre companies, whilst internationally acclaimed acts from the likes of the UK, Belgium and the United States will also be making an appearance.

Ireland’s largest theatre event will open with a new adaption of James Joyce’s Dubliners, which was co-produced by the festival and The Corn Exchange.

Other productions will include a new play by Emma Donoghue influenced by the life of writer Maeve Brennan and a re-working of King Lear by Pan Pan.

With such an array of fantastic productions on offer, it could represent the perfect excuse for a European break in one of the stunning Dublin hotels this September.
