Legendary Catalan photographer donates life work to museumCelebrated Catalan photographer Joan Colom has donated his life’s work to a popular art museum inBarcelona, in what is being labelled a ‘historical moment’ by some observers.

Regarded by many as one of the greatest figures in Spain’s New Avant garde movement, Joan Colom handed over his collection of around 9,500 photographs, negatives, a 25 minute film and a range of important documents to the National Art Museum of Cataluna (MNAC).

Perhaps most famous for his images of prostitution and the notorious Barrio Chino, a district that has raged raucous and unrepentant for years, Joan Colom was recognised for his work in 2002 when he was awarded the National Photography Prize by Spain’s Minister of Culture, one of many accolades he has received over his long and amazing career.

Come and check out his work whilst enjoying a break in one of the fine hotels in Barcelona over the coming months.
