Motor races returning to Dublin this weekendDublin’s famous Phoenix Park motor races are set to return later this month for the first time in two years.

The motor races, originally established in 1903, include the Dublin Grand Prix, an unquestionable highlight of the event which also includes Irish touring cars, GTs and Sprints.

Lack of volunteers and the recession has meant the races did not take place in 2010 or 2011, but organisers are hoping to stage the event with renewed vigour and believe they can get back to the halcyon days of racing in the 1990s, when 100,000 spectators turned up, with president of Motorsport Ireland Joe Corcoran hoping for a ‘fantastic couple of days’.

Taking place on 18 and 19 August, there is still time for any of those motorheads out there to get some tickets. Why not combine a memorable trip to the Irish capital with a stay in one of the fine hotels in Dublin?
