Barcelona exhibition explores the nature of keeping souvenirsWherever you head on holiday at whatever time of year, you will always feel inclined to pick up a few souvenirs, whether they are for loved ones back at home or perhaps to be kept as a keepsake to remind you of your trip. An interesting exhibition is currently open in Barcelona, exploring the relationship between photography and collecting as part of the tourist experience.

Designed by Martin Parr and curated by Juan Pablo Wert, Souvenir. Martin Parr, Photography and collectables explores the notion that images are experiences that have been captured forever, acting as a constant reminder of the fun you had. It contains more than one hundred photographs of famous sights around the Catalonian capital made especially for the collection, capturing the likes of Park Guell and Sagrada Familia, which always prove a popular draw for tourists. It will also include a range of different souvenir items, such as postcards, magnets and ornaments.

Resident at the Centre De Cultura Contemporània De Barcelona until the 21 October, it’s a fantastic educational event to enjoy should you be staying in any of the hotels in Barcelona during the period.
