Record numbers for this year’s Edinburgh FestivalA spectacular ceremony closed the curtain on yet another scintillating Edinburgh festival on Sunday, as organisers declared it a record year for the event.

After ending with its traditional fireworks concert, figures revealed that there had been an 11% rise in ticket sales, whilst £2.83 million was taken at the box office, representing a 9% increase on 2011.

Audiences from more than 70 nations gathered at the event, whilst more than 3000 artists entertained and wowed those lucky enough to attend.

It ends a fantastic summer for the Scottish capital, which further cemented its status as one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world.
