Acclaimed Spanish chef to open new Barcelona restaurantFoodies across Europe are getting excited at the news that celebrated chef Ferran Adrià is to expand his gastronomy empire by opening a new restaurant in the Catalonian capital.

The acclaimed Spanish chef, who is considered by many to be one of the best in the world, is to open a Peruvian-Japanese establishment in the city alongside his brother Albert in an effort to champion the cuisine of both nations, offering an excellent excuse for foodies to book a break in one of the excellent Barcelona hotels when the establishment opens.

Vegetables of both countries will take the spotlight of the prospective menu, with 10 native to each nation said to have been selected by Adrià, who looks set to conduct the kind of kitchen alchemy that helped make his now-shuttered El Bulli restaurant top the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list five times.

Although an opening date has not been set, the new venue will be situated alongside his tapas restaurant Tickets in Barcelona.
