Dublin monuments could get the bright light treatmentDublin’s most iconic and important monuments and statues could brighten up at night, after proposals were put forward by Cllr Paddy McCarten of Fine Gael.

The relatively low cost of improving the Irish capital’s nightscape would be of a benefit to tourism, according to the councillor, who said it would ‘add character’ and improve the first impression of the thousands of visitors that make their way to Dublin every year.

The proposed night lighting could also be accompanied by a plaque explaining the historical significance, with the councillor eager for tourists visiting the city as part of a break in one of the excellent Dublin hotels to understand more about the city’s impressive history.

A popular location for history buffs and art lovers around the world, the Irish capital has an impressive cultural landscape that has helped to cement its status as one of the world’s leading city break destinations.
