Forth Road BridgePreparations are underway for a 10-day festival near Edinburgh in 2014, which is to be held to mark the Forth Road Bridge’s 50th birthday.

Aptly titled The Celebration of the Bridges, the festival will include a flotilla of bridges on the Forth and a massive free fireworks display and will take place at some point in September.

Other potential ideas for the event includes the opportunity for 2,014 members of the public to climb to the top of the bridge’s main towers, and an attempt to set a world record for the largest-ever sit down lunch.

Although nearly two years away, it represents fantastic news for the thousands of visitors that head to some of the stunning Edinburgh hotels every year to catch some of the city’s famed festivals.

This could be another event the Scottish capital can be proud of, so keep an eye out for it in the future.
