New Barcelona museum pencilled in for 2014 introductionThe Catalonian capital’s amazing cultural landscape is to welcome an exciting addition to its collection in the summer of 2014, it has been confirmed.

The Museum of World Cultures is to open in Barcelona to the public sometime in June 2014, and it is already being billed as one of the ‘most important cultural centres in the country’ by Barcelona Culture Councilman, Jaume Ciurana.

Visitors planning on combining a trip to the institution whilst enjoying a cultural break in one of the excellent hotels in Barcelona that summer will be granted access to around 700 pieces of art from Asia, Africa, America and Oceania.

Costing five million to construct, the museum will occupy two gothic palaces in front of Picasso’s Museum in Montcada Street, whilst the art looks set to be provided by non-western collections of the Ethnological Museum of Barcelona and private collections.

If you can’t wait that long for an excuse to visit Barcelona, come and escape the winter blues and see for yourself what this marvellous city has to offer.
