In some fantastic news for the Dublin transport network, the city has unveiled a sizeable investment to upgrade its fleet of public buses.

With the investment believed to total €26m, it has paved the way for 80 high-tech double-decker buses to emerge onto the streets of the capital, a move that will certainly be the driving force behind the Dublin bus fleet replacement programme. As well as being completely wheelchair accessible and implementing a dedicated space for wheelchair users, the buses boast other features including free Wi-Fi access, better luggage storage and central doors to improve efficiency. They also boast fantastic environmentally friendly credentials, complying with ‘Euro 5’ emission standards.

Expected to be up and running before the end of 2012, the development is fantastic news for both city dwellers as well as anyone looking forward to their stay in any of the hotels in Dublin in the near future.
