Raphael exhibition goes on display in the LouvreAn exhibition showcasing some of the stunning works by Italian artist Raphael has gone on display at the magnificent Louvre museum in Paris.

The unparalleled display, which was organised by the French institution in partnership with the Prado Museum in Madrid, highlights some of his extraordinary pieces that were produced in the latter years of his short life.

Often referred to in the traditional trinity of great masters of that period alongside Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael’s work has long been acclaimed for its clarity of form, ease of composition and its visual accomplishment of the Neoplatonic ideal – the modern term for a school of mystical philosophy – of human grandeur.

He was also renowned as a hard working artist and ran an abnormally large workshop, meaning he left behind a large body of work.

Running until 12 January, be sure to come and check the exhibition out whilst taking a break in one of the stunning hotels in Paris over the coming months.
