The event’s organisers have teamed up with leading drinks company Diageo to confirm that they will provide completely free bus travel for all who wish to attend the festival. Operated by Lothian Buses, the service will be available to anyone who wishes to enjoy the Hogmanay Street Party, Concert in the Gardens or indeed the Keilidh. The measure is a welcome return of last year’s arrangements, which helped an estimated 20,000 people see in the New Year in spectacular fashion.

The line-up for this year’s festival is already looking fantastic, with the street party alone offering the chance to wave goodbye to 2012 in the company of 80,000 people against the backdrop of some fantastic music.

If you are keen for a New Year’s experience that is simply out of this world, why not book into one of the hotels in Edinburgh and discover the Hogmanay Festival?
