National Gallery of Modern ArtArt loving professor Henry Walton’s impressive art collection has been left to Scottish art museums after he passed away in July, it has been revealed.

The generous benefactor – a world-renowned psychiatrist and art collector – donated a compilation of works that included ancient Chinese pottery as well as paintings by Picasso and Rembrandt to the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art for display.

His generous will – published recently – also ordered that a trust fund would be set up to support and buy works of art for the aforementioned institution, whilst the Royal Museum of Scotland were permitted to select any items of his African or Oriental art works to hold on display. The donation is sure to be welcomed by the thousands of art lovers that flock to the fantastic hotels in Edinburgh throughout the year to sample the city’s magnificent institutions.

The astonishing act of good will has been welcomed by the National Galleries for Scotland, saying they were ‘delighted to be receiving a major gift’ from Professor Walton’s estate.
