To market itself as the perfect place to book your holidays in 2013, the county has been promoting a new tourism campaign entitled Welcome to Yorkshire, one which is being supported by one of the nation’s most famous soap operas. Set in the sleepy Yorkshire Dales, it only makes sense that Emmerdale should show its support for the initiative. The campaign has signed a lucrative product placement deal with ITV, taking full advantage of the average 7.6 million who tune in to watch the show every week.

As part of the deal, the village pub has announced it will become a Welcome to Yorkshire member.  With a record audience of 9.4 million earlier this year, it gives a great platform for Yorkshire to promote itself to millions of people across the country.

Welcome to Yorkshire it hoping to help county’s tourism grow by putting Yorkshire at the forefront of its activities and developing Yorkshire pride. It has already been successful, with the value of the county’s tourism seeing a 1.1 billion pound rise to sit at a fruitful £7 billion.

It is clearly helping Yorkshire appeal to visitors, with the 2009/2010 Regional Visitor Survey indicating that a whopping 97% recommend the region as a place to visit, 89% also said they would be very likely to return within two years.

If you are keen to explore Yorkshire for yourself, why not do so through a stay in one of the fantastic hotels in Whitby?
