A determined effort is to be made to promote the rich religious history of Edinburgh through a major new initiative, a move which is expected to draw thousands more tourists to the Scottish capital.St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh

One of the measures which is part of the initiative is to create specialist map, outlining the most famous religious sights of the city which celebrate Saint Margaret, Ninian and Cuthbert. It is hoped that it could kick-start a brand new pilgrimage style tourism scene for the capital, one which could prove favourable to culture vultures all over the world. One of the sights to play a huge significance in Edinburgh’s St Giles Cathedral, the principal place of worship in the capital and one which has stood as a religious focal point for over 900 years.
